Application Process
Preschool
- Schedule a tour with Cathy Timmer. Tours are arranged M-F, usually anytime between 9:15 AM and 10:00 AM. Tours take from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Complete and submit the Preschool Application.
- New families will be either handed or mailed a letter giving them information about the school’s online registration which usually takes place early in March.
- During the time for on-line registration the new families will go into the web site with a passcode and register their child/children.
- At the end of the registration period, which is usually about 3 days, the families will receive an email which either tells them that their child is indeed enrolled in the school, or he/she has been put on a waitlist.
- In the case of enrollment, they will print out a registration form, complete it and bring it to the school office with their fees ($250 tuition deposit and $80 registration fee) on the appointed date. Their child will then be officially enrolled.
- A new family packet will be sent to them in June.
Elementary (K-5)
- Schedule a tour with the school office. Tours are conducted on most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings beginning just after 9:00.
- Complete and submit the K-5 Application. The deadline for “Early Admission” applications for Kindergarten is generally on or around November 15. All other K-5 Applications are accepted as space allows.
- Submit application fee of $35.00.
- Have your child’s current teacher complete the Teacher Recommendation form and have him or her return it directly to us. If your child is currently enrolled in the GSLS preschool, we will provide those forms directly to your child’s teacher.
- If you are applying for 1st - 5th grades, please submit copies of your child’s progress reports or report cards from his or her previous school.
- For Kindergarten applicants: schedule your child for a Kindergarten Preview through the school office. For all 1st - 5th grade applicants: call the school office to arrange for a time for your child to be assessed or to “shadow” in the class to which you’re applying.
- The Admissions Committee meets regularly to review applications, teacher recommendations, preview or assessment information, and report cards from previous schools.
- The Admissions Committee sends letters to all prospective parents informing them of the status of their application. This status is either admitted, not admitted, or waitlisted. In some situations, further evaluation is necessary. The school will work with parents to arrange for those additional assessments.
