We practice our writing skills daily. We write about a different topic each day in our Journals. We make our writing interesting by including words from the different parts of speech we have studied. We enjoy reading wonderful stories from our Open Court reading series. We are reading a unit called Look Again. This unit teaches us how animals camouflage themselves. We will create our own imaginary environments when we can camouflage ourselves.
We are learning to add and subtract two digit numbers with regrouping. We measure everything using inches, feet, meters, kilometers, ounces, pounds, grams, kilograms, cups, pints, quarts, milliliters, liters and temperatures in Fahrenheit and Celsius. We chart distances on maps, keep track of daily temperatures, and practice wet and dry measurements with cooking activities.
We begin a Reading and Science unit; both called Fossils. We will learn facts about dinosaurs and share opinions about what we already know.
We learn new geographical terms in Social Studies. We will design and write postcards showing and telling about life in different area. We design and create our own cities.
We continue our wonderful enrichment classes of Spanish, Music, Technology, and Art.
We continue our independent daily reading and let our classmates know about these great stories as we share our monthly book reports.
We will make a Friendship Quilt displaying our favorite stories about friendship.
