Preschool
Extended Care
An NAEYC Accredited Program
Welcome to our Extended Care Preschool Program at Good Shepherd. We offer an extended day option for children currently enrolled in the morning preschool program. Our extended hours begin with an Early Bird Program from 7:00 A.M.-9:00 A.M. where children are cheerfully greeted and are offered warm chocolate milk or warm apple cider in a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
Our afternoon Extended Care Program begins at 12:00 noon and extends to 6:00 P.M. We provide a loving, nurturing environment with time for lunch, plenty of outdoor activities to develop those large muscles, such as climbing, sliding, digging, bike and scooter riding, catching and throwing as well as measuring and balancing. A variety of planned activities such as art, science, music movement, literature and sensory choices are also available.
Both sleep and rest options are provided from 1:00-3:00 P.M. for children who need this comforting part of the day or for those who are at school six hours or more. (Required by state licensing code.) Cots are used for sleeping comfort as well as soothing music and teachers’ reassuring back rubs. A nutritious snack is provided mid-afternoon.
Additional enrichment activities are offered weekly such as Kinderdance and Gymnastics, which are enthusiastically entered into and appreciated by parents and children alike!
Opportunities are offered daily for children to learn through play. Our loving staff supports and fosters independence in each child by encouraging children to try out new roles, as they explore, create and problem solve.
Good Shepherd School is proudly accredited through the National Association of Education for Young Children!
