BetteJo Chase
Extended Care Supervisor

My name is BetteJo Chase. I have worked at Good Shepherd Lutheran School since 2005. I joined the school as an Aide in the 3rd grade and then became the Pre School Extended Care Supervisor. I also create and run our Summer Camp program. My education includes: UC Davis Early Childhood Education Extended Courses (2001), an Early Child Development Certificate of Completion (13 ECE units) in 2001, the No Child Left Behind Act: Paraprofessional Exam (2004), an Associate in Arts Degree in Social Science (2004) from The College of the Redwoods, Eureka California and with continuing education a Child Development Master Teacher Permit (2009) from the Commission on Teaching Credentialing. I have completed over 60 units in Early Childhood Education and am currently applying for my Site Supervisors permit. While studying for my AS degree I had the privilege of working in the Ameri Corps Reading and Literacy program. I have worked with special needs children, school age children and pre school children. I think I have found my place here at Good Shepherd with the families of our extended care children and I am proud to share in their lives.

I was born on Mare Island Military Base, grew up in Napa and graduated from Napa High School. I moved to Humboldt County married and raised four sons, Dan, Morgan, James and Stephen before returning to Rohnert Park in 2006. I am the very proud grandmother to 9 grandchildren and eagerly awaiting the 10th this June. I feel working at Good Shepherd has brought me full circle and would like to end with this quote:

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase just take the first step.
