Margie Betts
Art and Technology

Mrs. Betts was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Graduated from Carnegie–Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pa., with a degree in Textile Chemistry and Design and then completed her graduate work at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, New York.

She was an executive Apparel buyer for stores such as Gimbels, I. Magnin, & Macy’s for many years. She also worked on the wholesale side of the apparel industry as a merchandise manager and consultant. After the birth of her children she became an art director and designer for catalogs and magazines.

When her daughters entered school, it was very important for her to spend time with them in their classrooms here at Good Shepherd. In 1994 she created a formal art curriculum for GSLS and in 1999 designed a formal technology program for all elementary grades. With her background in art, textiles and graphic design, she enjoys developing, teaching and updating the Art and Technology curriculum at GSLS.
